Report: Falcons will not force DE Umenyiora to take pay cut
Atlanta Falcons defensive end Osi Umenyiora called his boss's bluff and won.
The Falcons reportedly approached the veteran pass rusher earlier this offseason about taking a pay cut in 2014, but Umenyiora refused. Presumably, the team threatened to release him if he didn't comply.
The Falcons weren't willing follow through on the threat, it seems. According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Umenyiora will return to the team next season with no reduction in pay.
Umenyiora, 32, has a salary cap number of $4.75 million in 2014.
