Phillies' Rollins thinks manager is 'upset about something'

Jimmy Rollins didn't play in Tuesday's spring game against Atlanta. He wasn't in Wednesdays lineup, either. And Thursday, for the third straight game, the regular will be on the Philadelphia Phillies' bench.

"Oh, it is unusual," Rollins said to Philly.com's Matt Gelb. "But I’m not going to try to second guess or predict or come up with a reason why."

Rollins is the longest-tenured Phillies player, and he said he won't seek out his new manager Ryne Sandberg to talk about it. The two haven't spoken since Monday.

"Obviously he is upset about something," Rollins said, noting he'll wait for the manager to come to him.

After Wednesday's game, Sandberg didn't offer an explanation to reporters for Rollins' three-game benching. According to Gelb, the manager continued (unprompted) to praise Freddy Galvis' "energy and positive influence" and when asked about Rollins, simply said, "No comment."

Rollins found out when media members shared the conversation.
