T.J. Oshie on American hero status: 'American heroes are wearing camo'
American right-winger and shootout specialist T.J. Oshie burst into the national Zeitgeist with a ridiculous performance in the shootout tiebreaker against Russia on Saturday. Oshie scored four times on six attempts (a stretch which included five straight attempts for the American side), and did so in style.
How big is T.J. Oshie now? Well he gained 20,000 Twitter followers in half an hour, his name trended in the United States and worldwide. Even the White House congratulated him by name:
Congrats to T.J. Oshie and the U.S. men's hockey team on a huge win! Never stop believing in miracles. #GoTeamUSA -bo

Despite the bevy of attention facing the usually anonymous St. Louis Blues first liner, T.J. "aw shucks" Oshie seems to keeping his head about him and remaining humble:
Just had good talk with America's newest hero. Only don't call T.J. Oshie that. "The American heroes are wearing camo. That's not me." #USA
