Whitmore, Kamenski and Quintal appointed by IIHF to disciplinary panel for Winter Olympic Games
The IIHF has appointed four members to the "Displinary Panel" that will oversee disciplinary measures and penalties for the men's Olympic ice hockey tournament at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
The panel will include two representatives from the IIHF (Franz Reindl, and former Colorado Avalanche forward Valeri Kamenski) and two representatives from the NHL (Kay Whitmore, and Stephane Quintal).
Quintal and Whitmore currently work in disciplinary roles with the NHL. Whitmore currently serves as the NHL's senior manager of hockey operations and goaltending equipment and has spent this past season showing up at random at arenas across the league to measure goalie pads. Quintal works for the Department of Player Safety, which is directly responsible for policing the NHL game and doling out supplementary discipline.
Reindl is a former Bundesliga professional who has participated in international hockey tournaments for the past 30 years. Kamenski, meanwhile, is a former Stanley Cup winner who currently serves on the KHL's board of directors and acts as the league's Sporting-Disciplinary Committee Chairman.
