Blue Jackets G Sergei Bobrovsky pulled after allowing three unthinkably soft goals
Sergei Bobrovsky is the reigning Vezina winner and may start for the host country's men's Olympic ice hockey team at the Sochi Winter Games next month. While Bobrovsky is a capable netminder, he had a rough go of it on Saturday against the generally hapless Buffalo Sabres.
It's not just that Bobrovsky allowed three goals against on ten shots against (though that's pretty ugly), or that he got lit up by a historically inept offensive team. No what really stings is how Bobrovsky was scored on. Matt Ellis beat him with a 50 foot backhand shot, Christian Ehrhoff beat him with a 60 foot slapper and finally Marcus Foligno mercifully ended Bobrovsky's night with a soft 40 foot wrist shot.
Bobrovsky was replaced by Curtis McElhinney just three and a half minutes into the second period.
