We come bearing great, joyous news: Major League Baseball is bringing back R.B.I. Baseball:

"[MLB Advanced Media] today announces that R.B.I. Baseball 14, a video game brand not seen in nearly two decades, will return this spring. R.B.I. Baseball 14 is being developed by MLBAM for multi-platform distribution across current and next generation consoles and smartphones and tablets."

The original R.B.I. Baseball was released in 1986, for Nintendo. There were sequels, yes, but there was only one R.B.I. Baseball.

Let no one tell you otherwise: the 80s were a wonderful time.

Now, while you wait, sit back and watch the Mets' improbable Game 6 victory in the 1986 World Series -- yes, the Bill Buckner game -- as recreated in RBI Baseball. With Vin Scully on the mic!

The announcement from MLBAM comes after the demise of the MLB 2K series:

We can't wait until the spring.
