Lakers PG Farmar out four weeks after tearing hamstring
The Los Angeles Lakers announced on Wednesday that point guard Jordan Farmar will miss at least four weeks due to a tear in his left hamstring.
The tear was found during an ultrasound examination following Farmar feeling "a little tug" during Tuesday's game. The tear is said to be in a different location than the tear in the same hamstring that kept him out for four weeks earlier in the season.
So, yeah...the Lakers are having a rough go at the point. Here's how their depth chart currently looks:
| Name | Natural Position | Injury? | Current Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steve Nash | PG | Back strain | Indefinite |
| Steve Blake | PG | Torn elbow ligament | 4 weeks |
| Jordan Farmar | PG | Torn hamstring | 4 weeks |
| Kobe Bryant | SG | Knee fracture | 4 weeks |
| Xavier Henry | SG | Knee strain | 1-2 weeks |
| Kendall Marshall | PG | - | - |
| Nick Young | SF | - | - |
| Jodie Meeks | SG | - | - |
So with three point guards and two off-guards down, the Lakers will now turn to D-League signing Kendall Marshall and wings Nick Young and Jodie Meeks to man the point.
Marshall is a nice fantasy add but he's not ready to run an NBA team on a full-time basis yet, while playing scorers at the point could make for a sticky ball on offense. Mike D'Antoni has done a good job working around the injuries so far but this could prove too tall a task.
