Report: Flyers and Islanders 'taking serious runs' at acquiring Pacioretty

As the NHL transaction wire rests in the midst of the league's annual holiday trade freeze, winds are blowing out of New York suggesting Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty may be available.

According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, "the Islanders and Flyers are taking serious runs at Pacioretty." The New York Rangers are said to also be interested.

The 25-year old is under contract through 2018-19 with a fairly modest $4.5 million cap hit. In 29 games this season, Pacioretty has scored 15 goals and added four assists, and leads the team with 113 shots on goal.

The NHL's trade freeze expires at the end of all league competition on Dec. 27.
