Report: Tigers interested in Dodgers 3B coach Tim Wallach for manager's job

The Detroit Tigers need a new manager to replace Jim Leyland, and they have their eyes on Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach, according to ESPN's Jonah Keri:

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal wrote about Wallach and the Tigers' managerial vacancy on Wednesday:

"Wallach could be a candidate for the Tigers’ opening; he played for Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski in Montreal from 1988 to '91."

The Dodgers exercised an option on Wallach's contract on Tuesday, Rosenthal added, which means he'll be back in Los Angeles if he doesn't earn a promotion.

Wallach has said in recent years that he's ready to manage in the majors, and he was linked to managerial vacancies in both Toronto and Boston last year.
