Lions S Delmas forced to give up pet alligator

Detroit Lions wide receiver Kevin Ogletree likely wasn't expecting a certain house guest when he moved in with teammate Louis Delmas. Ogletree was less than thrilled to learn that Delmas owned a six-foot alligator named Mojo.

Delmas, who is a fifth-year safety for the Lions, received an alligator egg as a gift in his rookie year from Ernie Sims. The pet had grown so big it had to be kept in a 36-square-foot tank in Delmas' basement.

The gator was eating two giant rats three times per week.

"That gator ate my refrigerator dry," Delmas said, according to MLive.com.

Mojo now resides in the Allen Park Critter Shop where he gets care from owner Rick Simms and could end up at the Detroit Zoo.

Ogletree said he would not move in with the gator there.

"I told him I couldn't stay there with the gator there, so he had to make some adjustments for the New York City kid," Ogletree said, according to MLive.com.
