Report: Oilers seeking to upgrade blueline

On Tuesday evening TSN's Bob McKenzie reported that the Edmonton Oilers - who have struggled out of the gate this season, and in their own end in particular - are in the market for a defenseman.

"I would suggest that after three games and 15 goals against, maybe Craig MacTavish is more open for business than most General Managers would be after one week of the regular season," McKenzie said during an "Insider Trading" segment Tuesday night.

According to McKenzie, Oilers General Manager Craig MacTavish is "trying to find something that would be considered bold, that would make a dramatic difference" along the Oilers blue-line.

While the Oilers are looking into improving their defense-corps, MacTavish and company aren't panicking about their goaltending situation. At least not yet. "They're not going to judge (Devan) Dubnyk on a couple of games where he wasn't nearly as good as he needs to be," McKenzie said.
