Edwin Encarnacion posed for the Blue Jays team photo Wednesday and appears to be using his injured wrist just fine, thank you.
Edwin Encarnacion went under the knife on Tuesday, having surgery performed on his injured left wrist.
There is some concern that wrist injuries can sap power from players during the recovery process. The hope in Toronto will be that the large gap between surgery and spring training will allow the wrist to heal fully with no lingering effects.
The Blue Jays placed slugger Edwin Encarnacion on the disabled list prior to Tuesday's bout with the Yankees, with persistent wrist problems effectively ending his season.
The 30-year-old hit .272/.370/.534 with 36 home runs and 29 doubles this season. He also made his first career All-Star appearance in 2013.
He will have surgery later this week to repair the cartilage in his wrist.
