Report: Jerry Jones interested in Canelo-Chavez Jr. at AT&T Stadium

Jerry Jones is looking to bring Canelo Alvarez back to AT&T Stadium.

The Dallas Cowboys owner reportedly took part in discussions Friday to host Alvarez's May 6 bout against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., according to Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times, citing sources close to the site negotiations.

Should Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) find himself in Arlington, Texas again, it will be the second time in as many fights that the 26-year-old boxing star has been entrusted to fill the cavernous stadium. This past September, Alvarez defeated British champion Liam Smith by ninth-round TKO to win the WBO light middleweight title in front of an estimated crowd of 50,000.

A bout between Alvarez and Chavez Jr. could potentially better that number given that Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) is more established in Texas than Smith, having fought in the state many times.

Alvarez's title will not be on the line for the bout as the camps have agreed to meet at a catchweight of 164.5 pounds.
