Four-star defensive tackle Kyree Campbell, a class of 2016 recruit, pledged to North Carolina on Monday, electing the Tar Heels over offers from an array of college football powerhouses.
The 6-foot-5, 312-pound Campbell made the announcement at a press conference following a preseason practice at his Northern Virginia high school, according to Don Callahan of Scout.
His other finalists were Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
He had originally planned to announce his decision on Oct. 29, but moved his announcement to Monday after visiting Chapel Hill last Thursday with his mother.
ESPN ranks Campbell as the No. 9 prospect in the state of Virginia and the No. 33 defensive tackle prospect overall.
