USC's Pat Haden to protest Indiana law, will skip CFP committee meeting

Gary A. Vasquez / US PRESSWIRE

USC's Pat Haden is taking a stand against a controversial new law in Indiana.

The Trojans' athletic director, serving as one of the 13 members of the College Football Playoff selection committee, stated his intention to skip a committee meeting in Indiana as a sign of protest of the state's so-called Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

The law, which would potentially allow businesses to refuse service to gay and lesbian customers, has been met with controversy from the NCAA since it was signed into law by Gov. Mike Pence on March 26.

Many prominent figures have urged major sporting events - such as this weekend's Final Four - to be pulled out of the state.
