Michigan's Hoke takes responsibility for mishandling of Shane Morris incident

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Michigan head coach Brady Hoke took full responsibility for the communication breakdown that led to Shane Morris' return to Saturday's game against Minnesota, despite Morris showing symptoms of a concussion, according to ESPN's Dan Murphy.

"When you're a leader you have to take responsibility," Hoke said. "I take responsibility for our student-athletes and I take it for their health and welfare."

Hoke also said that it is not his decision to determine when players are healthy enough to play, and announced that Devin Gardner would start Saturday's game for the Wolverines against Rutgers.

Morris was not listed as an option for the game.
