Body-slammed Ohio State fan loses scholarship

Brian Spurlock / USA TODAY Sports

When the trespassing fan who was awkwardly body-slammed by Ohio State assistant coach Anthony Schlegal in Saturday's game was dragged off the field, his full-ride scholarship went out the door.

Anthony J. Wunder, a mechanical-engineering student who ran onto the field in the second quarter of the Buckeyes game against the Cincinnati Bearcats, was told by the Evans Scholars program that he has lost his scholarship, reports The Columbus Dispatch.

Wunder also faces a charge of criminal trespassing as a result of his on-field stunt. A court complaint stated that Wunder was intoxicated at the time of the incident. His attorney, Mark Collins, entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf and requested a jury trial.

Criminal trespassing is a fourth-degree misdemeanor punishable by no more than 30 days in jail.
