Oklahoma State looking to finalize extension Gundy never signed

Rob Ferguson / USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma State is looking to finalizing a two-year contract extension for head coach Mike Gundy, a program spokesperson told Kyle Frederickson of The Oklahoman.

The extension was actually agreed to last summer, but Gundy never officially signed it. Whispers surfaced after the 2016 season that Gundy was open to entertaining offers from other schools, though nothing wound up materializing.

Gundy has publicly feuded with prominent booster Boone Pickens throughout his tenure, leading to speculation the coach may have been growing tired of his alma mater.

The Cowboys are coming off back-to-back 10-3 seasons, and are 104-50 overall in Gundy's 12 seasons at the helm.

Gundy declined to discuss his contract situation with the newspaper.
