Tennessee promotes Larry Scott to offensive coordinator

Tennessee has promoted special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Larry Scott to offensive coordinator, the team announced Friday.

Scott, who's perhaps most known for his six-game stint as Miami's interim head coach in 2015, earned the new title after just one year on the Volunteers' staff.

"Larry played an important role in the success we had offensively last year and was heavily involved in all aspects of our game plan, both during the week and on game day," head coach Butch Jones said in a news release. "We felt it was vital to maintain our continuity on offense and keep building on what we have established the past four seasons."

Scott has never been an offensive coordinator before, but brings to the table 16 years of coaching experience.

He'll be tasked with developing a new quarterback next season, as Joshua Dobbs is set to graduate from the program.
