College coaches make World Series predictions

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

With Game 1 of the World Series set to begin tonight in Cleveland between the Indians and the Chicago Cubs, a few notable college football coaches have been asked who they're cheering for in the Fall Classic.

Brian Kelly - Notre Dame

Pick: Cubs

Possible reason why: South Bend is less than two hours away from Chicago. Also, as Kelly is a Red Sox fan, there are plenty of Boston ties to this Cubs team.

Dabo Swinney - Clemson

Pick: Cubs

Possible reason why: Swinney mentioned during his Tuesday press conference that Jon Lester's wife went to Clemson. He also borrowed Cubs manager Joe Maddon's mantra of “Embrace the Target” for his 2016 team.

Pat Fitzgerald - Northwestern

Pick: Cubs

Possible reason why: Despite being a White Sox fan, Fitzgerald coaches at a university located just outside Chicago, so it's just good business to root for the Cubs.

Urban Meyer - Ohio State

Pick: Indians

Possible reason why: Born in Toledo, Ohio, Meyer is an Indians fan and recently asked a reporter for a score update during the ALCS.

Jim Harbaugh - Michigan

Pick: No pick

Possible reason why: "The Mad Recruiter" is playing politician. He wanted a Cubs-Indians World Series, though, and has said his parents are Cleveland supporters.

Mike Leach - Washington State

Pick: Indians

Possible reason why: He's a complete psycho. Leach went on a tirade Tuesday on why he wants Cleveland to win, among other things.
