Tennessee rules Vincent Perry academically ineligible for 2016 season

Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee wide receiver Vincent Perry will miss the entire 2016 season after the school ruled him academically ineligible Wednesday.

While Perry will lose his scholarship due to the decision, he will remain on the team and have the chance to earn it back over time, school spokesman Ryan Robinson told Dustin Dopirak of the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Perry came to Tennessee as a three-star recruit out of Nashville in the class of 2015. Originally recruited as a running back, the 5-foot-10, 177-pounder made the change to wide receiver once on campus.

Perry failed to see action in any games last season, as a preseason knee injury kept him sidelined throughout the campaign.
