Boise State's Malek Harwell suffers season-ending injury

Josh Holmberg / USA TODAY Sports

Boise State has lost Malek Harwell for the season after the incoming freshman tore his ACL in practice this week, according to the Idaho Statesman's Dave Southorn.

Harwell was one of the state of Idaho’s most coveted recruits, averaging 27 points and 10 rebounds per game as a senior.

Head coach Leon Rice spoke last November about how thrilled he was about his potential.

"The most exciting thing about Malek is his tremendous upside," Rice said when Harwell signed. "That, coupled with his work ethic and drive to be a great player, has this staff confident about his future at Boise State."
