Promising Kentucky freshman Skal Labissiere has not been cleared by the NCAA to play, his guardian told ESPN.

Labissiere was ranked first among centers and second overall in ESPN's Top 100 in the class of 2015. He's been labeled a can't-miss prospect and is expected to be an NBA lottery pick when eligible.

The specifics regarding Labissiere's eligibility remain unclear, but his guardian, Gerald Hamilton, is confident everything will be sorted out.

"They haven't cleared him, but we're sticking with our faith," Hamilton said. "There's no real concern about anything from the Kentucky compliance people."

Labissiere moved to the United States from Haiti in 2010 after the destructive earthquake hit his home country.

Kentucky opens its season Nov. 13 against Albany.
