Federico Mussini, a highly regarded point guard from Italy, committed to St. John's as a member of the class of 2015 on Monday, according to multiple reports.

The 19-year-old visited St. John's in April after recording nine points and three assists in the World team's 103-101 victory over the United States.

Mussini was asked about the visit at that time.

"Really good," Mussini said. "I liked the atmosphere of the college. For me (it) was the first time in an American college."

He also called head coach Chris Mullin "a really good person."

Mussini is ranked as the No. 15 international prospect in his age group by DraftExpress. He averaged 14.6 points, in the 2012 U16 European Championship, then posted 22.6 points per game in the FIBA U18 European Championship.

Several schools expressed interest in prying Mussini away from Italian club Reggio Emilia, including Gonzaga and Virginia.

With Rysheed Jordan leaving to pursue a pro career, a slew of minutes opened up in the Red Storm backcourt this offseason.
