Michigan State's Matt Costello undergoes knee surgery

Mark Konezny / USA TODAY Sports

Michigan State big man Matt Costello underwent successful surgery on the knee that bothered him during the Final Four.

The junior will be out for only a few weeks before resuming basketball activities, according to Joe Rexrode of the Detroit Free Press.

Costello didn't miss any playing time, though it was clear that he was struggling on the court. He averaged 7.0 points and 5.2 rebounds this season, finishing second on the team with 48 blocks.
