Jae'Sean Tate, Ohio State stomp Nebraska

Trevor Ruszkowski / USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State had no difficulty handing Nebraska its sixth consecutive loss.

Jae'Sean Tate put up 22 points, seven rebounds and two steals Thursday to lead the Buckeyes to an 81-57 victory over the Cornhuskers.

Coming off back-to-back losses in the state of Michigan, the Buckeyes looked to make a statement with a dominating win.

They finished the first half with an 18-point lead thanks to forward Sam Thompson's clutch dunks and 3-pointers. He finished the game as the second-leading scorer with 15 points and five rebounds.

Nebraska was slow to warm up, and played a first half riddled with missed shots and turnovers.

The Buckeyes continued to dominate the Cornhuskers on the hardwood in the second half, shooting 53.8 percent from the field compared to Nebraska's 43.1.

Nebraska's David Rivers earned his first career double-double, recording 10 points, 11 rebounds and one assist. But his efforts were not enough to help his team avoid another loss.

A 20-8 Ohio State team will host Purdue on Mar. 1.
