Richmond knocks off No. 14 VCU

Amber Searls / USA TODAY Sports

Richmond upset 14th-ranked VCU with a 64-55 victory on Saturday.

Spiders forward T.J. Cline made a three-point jumper to take the lead just under two minutes into the second half, and the Rams would never lead again.

It is the first road win against a top 25 opponent for Richmond since January 2004.

Senior guard Kendall Anthony picked a good time to record one of his biggest games of the season as he registered 22 points and four rebounds to help put the Spiders ahead. Junior forward Trey Davis was also a force for Richmond with 10 defensive rebounds.

With the win over VCU, Richmond improves to 12-9 on the season and will face La Salle on Thursday while the Rams hope to bounce back against George Mason on Wednesday.
