Southern Miss players ruled ineligible; NCAA investigating financial aid issues

Chuck Cook / USA TODAY Sports

The NCAA is coming down on two Southern Miss players who may have used false documents to transfer from their junior college.

Rasham Suarez and Jeremiah Eason, both transfers from College of Central Florida, have been ruled ineligible as the NCAA questions them.

The legitimacy of their academic work is under investigation, as it may not qualify them to play at Southern Miss, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

Suarez will reportedly head for the professional ranks in Puerto Rico. Eason still has a chance for reinstatement, so he'll stay put.

The school is also under investigation for violating financial aid rules regarding three players. The NCAA is probing the financial situations of Matt Bingaya, Shadell Millinghaus and Davon Hayes.
