Texas Southern upsets No. 25 Michigan State in OT

Mike Carter / USA TODAY Sports

A week after being introduced into the AP Top 25, cold shooting forced No. 25 Michigan State to battle Texas Southern into overtime, where the Spartans were outplayed in a 71-64 upset loss.

Michigan State's lineup was unable to score with any consistency, save for forward Matt Costello, who scored 17 points off the bench on 8-of-10 shooting.

The Tigers, on the other hand, came to play. Forward Chris Thomas was all over the scoresheet, scoring a game-high 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while going 7-for-10 from the stripe. Thomas also recorded two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

Forward Malcolm Riley also pitched in 20 points and seven rebounds for Texas Southern.
