Former Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar took a $1.3-million pay cut to join Arizona's coaching staff as an assistant.

The 58-year-old will make $400,000 per year on Sean Miller's staff, according to school documents obtained by Bruce Pascoe of the Arizona Daily Star. He received $1.7 million annually as the head coach at Washington.

Romar is still set to receive a $3.2-million buyout from the Huskies, who fired him after 15 seasons. He agreed to join the Wildcats on Saturday.

One of the nation's top recruiters, Romar is expected to bolster a program that already attracted plenty of top talent each year.
