Watch: Maye-day in Memphis! North Carolina stuns Kentucky

Justin Ford / USA TODAY Sports

This is March Madness.

In arguably the most dramatic contest of the entire tournament thus far, Luke Maye wasn't going to let North Carolina miss out on its second consecutive Final Four.

With eight seconds left to play and Kentucky trailing by three points, Malik Monk stepped up and drained the second of his late-game three's to even up the game. Monk had been largely absent on the scoresheet throughout the game, mustering only six points prior to the late surge, but his efforts put Kentucky in a place to force overtime.

And then Maye was left open.

Roy Williams had one timeout remaining as his team inbounded the ball, but elected to let his players make one final push.

Theo Pinson pushed the ball up the court and all the way through the key before dishing off to an open Maye for what would prove to be the straw that broke Kentucky's back.

A total of 0.3 seconds remained on the clock, but the Wildcats were unable to execute a last-ditch pass-and-tip effort.

The win sends North Carolina through to the Final Four for the second straight season, looking for vengeance after last season's heartbreaking defeat to Villanova. The Tar Heels will take on an Oregon team coming off an upset win of Kansas, so the Jayhawks' fate should be proof enough that the Ducks shouldn't be taken lightly.
