Kentucky's Fox in walking boot after leaving game with ankle injury

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

Kentucky may have won its game against South Carolina on Saturday, but the Wildcats are hoping they didn't sustain a bigger loss with the health of De'Aaron Fox.

The star point guard left during the first half of the game with an ankle injury and did not return. He was seen on the bench with a walking boot and crutches during the second half of play.

Fox was off to a hot start, making all three of his shot attempts, before turning his ankle on a drive in the first half.

"It's not swelled," head coach John Calipari said after the game, as per Kyle Boone of CBS Sports. "I think it might've been a stinger. I don't know. But something hit his ankle."

Losing Fox for an extended absence would be tough for the Wildcats to overcome. The first-year standout is averaging 16.7 points and 6.3 rebounds on the season, and is projected to be a lottery pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
