Police: South Carolina's Rakym Felder kicked, hit officers

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Police say South Carolina freshman guard Rakym Felder kicked and hit officers trying to arrest him after he landed a surprise punch on a bystander in Columbia's bar district.

A Columbia Police report says officers also had to use a Taser on the 18-year-old 6-foot-1 shooting guard from New York early Sunday morning.

The report says the person Felder punched was knocked out and Felder ran from the officer trying to arrest him until he ended up in a fenced in parking lot.

A team spokeswoman said coach Frank Martin was aware of Felder's arrest and was gathering more information. Per South Carolina athletic department policy, Felder is suspended indefinitely.

Felder was faces simple assault and battery, resisting arrest and several other charges.
