At 76 years of age, Larry Brown may continue his coaching career at the high school level.

The Hall of Famer is considering coaching East Hampton High this season in New York, he told C.L. Brown of ESPN on Tuesday. Brown has a summer home not far from the school and recently learned of the vacancy.

"Tonight, I'm going to the high school and see the kids and talk to the (athletic director)," Brown said. "I wish I could tell you when I'm going to make a decision. I'm hopeful, it's pretty close."

Brown left SMU this summer after failing to agree on a contract extension. The Mustangs offered him a deal that ran through 2020, but Brown wanted a longer contract.

The former NCAA and NBA champion feels he can bring a lot to the high school game.

"When you've played for the people that I've played for and had people sit next to you like I have, it wouldn't seem right if I didn't share everything I was taught," Brown said. "I know I have this gift that I can teach. I just want to help the game that's giving me so many unbelievable opportunities that I want to give back."
