Report: Texas lands 4-star center Jericho Sims

Danny La-USA TODAY Sports

Shaka Smart looks to have further bolstered his frontcourt for the future Tuesday, as a source told ESPN's Jeff Borzello the Texas head coach has landed a commitment from four-star center Jericho Sims.

The 6-foot-8 big man is a perfect fit for Smart's up-tempo pace, which requires athletic forwards who can run the floor. Sims is ranked second in the state of Minnesota in the 2017 recruiting class, and is listed at No. 67 on the ESPN 100.

Sims joins fellow four-star commit Royce Hamm in giving Texas a dominant frontcourt for the Longhorns' future. The Minneapolis native held offers from a number of top programs, including UConn, Florida, Kansas, Oregon, and Ohio State before deciding on the Big 12 program.
