MJ gives Kobe full set of Air Jordans as retirement gift

Nike

Kobe Bryant has been feted time and again throughout his final NBA season, but he may have received his most impressive retirement gift yet from the one and only Michael Jordan, to whom he's often been compared during his illustrious career.

At a Jordan Brand All-Star party on Friday night, Bryant was gifted the full complement of sneakers released in the Air Jordan line to date - a set of 30 pairs.

"The set was highlighted by the Air Jordan III and Air Jordan VIII, which Bryant wore during the 2002-03 season, in the white, purple, and gold colors that have defined Bryant’s career," the company said in a statement.

"The Jordan Brand is about more than basketball, it's about leaving a legacy and honoring those who have left a legacy," said company president Larry Miller. "Tonight the brand was able to honor one of the games great players and the legacy he created."

The organization also made an alternate set of Bryant's size 14s in black, which will be auctioned off on eBay for charity.
