Charlotte Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was playing in just his seventh game of the season Wednesday night against the Indiana Pacers after recovering from surgery on his right shoulder.

In an unfortunate turn of events, the 22-year-old Kentucky product was forced to leave the game after falling to the deck on a drive to the basket.

The team later revealed that Kidd-Gilchrist had suffered a dislocated right shoulder on the play, and that he would not return.

He's set to have an MRI on Thursday.

The Hornets are 4-2 since Kidd-Gilchrist returned to the lineup. He's been averaging 13.5 points, seven rebounds, and 1.2 assists on 52.6 percent shooting over that span.
