The grind of the NBA season has begun to take its toll on Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, who's already missed six games due to injury.

His seventh absence will come Monday night on the road against the Charlotte Hornets, as the former league MVP will not be in uniform due to general body soreness.

Veteran Kirk Hinrich will get the start in his place.

Rose told reporters Monday evening that he hopes to be back for Chicago's final game before the All-Star break, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell, which is Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Chicago has fared well this season when Rose was unavailable to play, compiling a 5-1 record. The matchup with the Hornets marks the seventh and final game of a road trip that's brought the Bulls just two victories in six tries.

Rose is currently averaging a career-low 15.9 points on 40.9 percent shooting, along with 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 44 appearances for the 27-23 Bulls, who currently hold down the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
