Love still 'not completely sure' about status for Cavs' opener

Six months after a dislocated left shoulder ended Kevin Love's postseason at the conclusion of the first round of the playoffs, Cleveland's star power forward remains noncommittal on his status for this year's season opener.

"I am not completely sure," Love told Sports News' Sean Deveney. "I'll probably get with the doctors and see what they have to say. I know that my six-month post-op is coming up here pretty fast."

The Cavaliers, reigning Eastern Conference champions, will open their 2015-16 campaign against the Central Division rival Chicago Bulls on Oct. 27.

"As far as getting the strength back, getting the range of motion, I feel pretty good, so I am looking forward to getting into some more contact, getting into a rhythm and getting out there as quickly as I can," Love said.

"I like to think that I am ahead of the game, but there's different tests and the due diligence that the doctor will go through and the training staff will go through," he added. "All I can do is go out there every day and attack my rehab and hopefully I will be able to go out there and help these guys as soon as possible."

Love, who deemed himself "a month, month and a half away" on Sept. 11, averaged 16.4 points and 9.7 rebounds in his first season as a third option behind LeBron James and Kyrie Irving last year.

James and the team have been open about their desire to feature Love more prominently this season, whenever the three-time All-Star is ready to return.
