The comeback campaign for former fifth overall pick Nikoloz Tskitishvili is over.

ESPN's Marc Stein reports that the Los Angeles Clippers waived Tskitishvili after just a single preseason game. ESPN's Arash Markazi shared a press release from the team.

The Clippers signed Tskitishvili to a training camp invite three weeks ago after the Georgian 7-footer revealed in August that he was looking to make a return to the NBA.

The 32-year-old, however, did not see the court on Friday as he was one of four players to sit out the Clippers' preseason opener against the Denver Nuggets, who drafted Tskitishvili with the fifth pick in 2002.

Tskitishvili went on to spend parts of three seasons in Denver before flaming out and latching on in the international circuit. Tskitishvili played in Spain, Italy, Greece, Iran, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates after leaving the NBA in 2006.

However, Tskitishvili's odds of latching on with the Clippers were slim, given that they already had 14 guaranteed players on their roster in addition to veteran Chuck Hayes on a non-guaranteed contract.

Across 172 career NBA games, Tskitishvili averaged 2.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 11.3 minutes per game.
