Grizzlies rookie Jarell Martin fractures left foot during workout

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Memphis Grizzlies rookie forward Jarell Martin fractured his left foot after colliding with another player during a recent workout, the team announced Wednesday.

The 21-year-old will undergo surgery Thursday, with no timetable set for his return.

Martin was selected with the No. 25 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft out of Louisiana State University. He spent two years playing for the Tigers, averaging a near double-double of 16.9 points and 9.2 rebounds on 50.7 percent shooting from the field in his final year, while also earning a spot on the All-SEC first team in the process.

An unrelated stress fracture in his foot kept the 6-foot-9 big out of Summer League in July.
