Report: Victor Claver signs in Russia

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

Former Portland Trail Blazers forward Victor Claver is reportedly finalizing a deal with Russian club Lokomotiv Kuban, according to Eurobasket's David Pick.

The Blazers selected the 6-foot-9 Spaniard with the No. 22 pick in the 2009 draft. Claver remained overseas, playing for Valencia in the Spain's Liga ACB, for three seasons before coming stateside for the 2012-13 campaign.

Claver struggled to find consistent playing time in Rip City. His 16.6 minutes per game in 2012-13 were the most he'd ever receive, as his average would declined steadily over the next two years, resulting in just 7.6 minutes per game in 2014-15.

His cumulative stats for his three-season NBA career: 3.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.7 assists.

Claver, 27, was part of a trade in February that sent him and forward Thomas Robinson to the Denver Nuggets for Arron Afflalo and Alonzo Gee.

Claver was waived immediately by the Nuggets, and promptly signed with Russian club Khimki Moscow of the VTB United League.

A member of Spain's silver medal team at the 2012 London Olympics, Claver makes the 850-mile trip from Khimki to Kuban with the hopes of earning more floor time.

Kuban fans will look forward to having a dunk contest champ on their team.
