Report: Clippers have spoken with former 1st-round pick Chris Singleton

With one roster spot still open a month before training camp, the Los Angeles Clippers are exploring a myriad of options.

The team is reportedly still hopeful of re-signing Glen Davis, but in the interim, they've reached out to Ryan Hollins and, according to a report from Brad Turner of The Los Angeles Times, kicked the tires on Chris Singleton. While no deal is in place, the Clippers have spoken with Singleton's representatives.

The No. 18 overall pick in the 2011 draft, Singleton had an encouraging rookie season but failed to build on it. The Washington Wizards opted to cut bait on his rookie contract after three years, relegating Singleton to the D-League and China for the 2014-15 season.

Singleton put up middling numbers in the D-League - he averaged 9.2 points and 6.1 rebounds, shooting 34.4 percent - but he was productive for the Jiangsu Dragons, averaging 22.5 points and 12.8 rebounds in 17 games. A 6-foot-8 combo-forward, Singleton derives most of his value on the defensive end of the floor, where his length and athleticism help make up for occasional lapses in attention.

In 148 career NBA games, Singleton averaged 4.1 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 37.6 percent from the floor and 31.9 percent from long-range.
