Hawks' Korver hopes to be ready for training camp

Atlanta Hawks sharpshooter Kyle Korver must have felt like a human pin cushion by the end of the 2014-15 season.

The Hawks' fairy tale season came to an end after being ushered out of the playoffs by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers courtesy of an Eastern Conference Finals sweep. However, Korver's postseason run ended two games earlier than his teammates' thanks to an ankle injury sustained in Game 2 of the series.

The 34-year-old veteran went under the knife to repair his ailing right ankle in May. At the time, his recovery timetable was set at three months.

In June, he went underwent another surgery, this time on his right elbow. This procedure was less dire, however, as the scoping of his shooting arm was more precautionary than an emergency.

On Thursday, Korver told Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he aims to be ready to go for the team's training camp this fall.

"I’m doing OK. Both ankle and elbow are progressing fine," he said. "I’m definitely hopeful that they will be ready to go by camp."

This self-prognosis bodes well, as the Hawks will certainly need Korver's long-distance capabilities if they expect to prove that last year's regular-season results – 60-22 record and highest winning percentage (73.2) in franchise history – can be duplicated if not improved upon.
