The New York Knicks have decided they Ricky Ledon't.

The team announced Thursday that they waived shooting guard Ricky Ledo, saving themselves some potential guaranteed salary commitment in the process.

Ledo was under contract for $947,276 for the 2015-16 season, but that amount was non-guaranteed. Had Ledo been on the roster after Friday, $100,000 would have become guaranteed, with another $100,000 getting guaranteed once the regular season opened. While those amounts are small, the Knicks appear to have valued the flexibility of an extra roster spot and a few dollars saved.

Drafted as the No. 43 pick in 2013 despite never playing an NCAA minute, Ledo played a season-and-a-half with the Dallas Mavericks before getting waived in February. The Knicks scooped him up on a pair of 10-day contracts and later signed him to a multi-year deal, impressed with his performance in a 12-game sample.

The 6-foot-7 Ledo averaged 3.9 points in 9.9 minutes over 28 NBA games in two seasons, shooting a woeful 33.6 percent from inside the 3-point line and 37.1 percent from beyond it in a tiny sample. He's enjoyed more success in the D-League, averaging 14 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists over two seasons, shooting 43.1 percent from the floor.

Ledo struggled at Las Vegas Summer League, likely sealing his fate with the Knicks. He'll now try to catch on with a team for training camp and could face the difficult D-League-or-overseas decision.
