Not even playing four positions could secure Robbie Hummel a guaranteed NBA deal.

The unrestricted free agent has signed a one-year deal with Olimpia Milano of the Italian league, according to international reporter David Pick. The deal doesn't include an NBA opt-out, so the former Minnesota Timberwolves human Swiss army knife will stay overseas for at least one season.

The Timberwolves initially tendered Hummel a qualifying offer, making him a restricted free agent on July 1, but rescinded that offer July 6. With the roster already full with guaranteed contracts, there was no room for the No. 58 overall pick in the 2012 draft.

Hummel spent the 2012-13 season playing in Spain before Minnesota brought him stateside for 2013-14. The 6-foot-9 Purdue product has spotted in at every position other than point guard, and he averaged 3.9 points and 2.7 rebounds over 98 games. Abandoned some by his 3-point stroke last year - he dropped from 36 percent to 31.4 percent from outside - Hummel will likely need to rediscover his range in Italy to intrigue an NBA team next summer.
