Grizzlies' Matt Barnes is 'going to foul the beep out of (DeAndre Jordan)'

Spending three seasons suiting up for the Los Angeles Clippers hasn't softened Matt Barnes to the point where he'll show mercy to his old squad next season.

Barnes, now a member of the Memphis Grizzlies following a series of offseason trades, recently cautioned former teammate DeAndre Jordan of the physical play coming his way when the teams inevitably square off.

"I told him, 'Even though we're good friends, I'm still going to foul the beep out of you when we play,'" Barnes mentioned during his introductory news conference on Tuesday, per The Los Angeles Times' Ben Bolch.

“That’s just the kind of player I am. There’s no hard feelings …"

While some of the relationships Barnes forged with Clipper teammates may last a lifetime, the 35-year-old defensive savage knows friendship goes out the door when the game gets underway.

"Basically coming from the enemy and now they're the enemy," Barnes said. "My kids are a little confused still. I have twin boys and they're just like, 'So, Daddy, do you not like DeAndre, Chris (Paul), and Blake (Griffin) no more?' And I'm like, 'No, they're still my friends, it's just they're my enemy when the ball goes up.'"

The Clippers and Grizzlies already have a rivalry brewing after squaring off in the postseason two years in a row in 2012 and 2013. Having Barnes on the opposite side of the floor just adds more fuel to the fire.

"We can be friends off the court until the cows come home," Barnes told Memphis radio host Chris Vernon, according to Bolch, "but for those 48 minutes (of game time), if you're not wearing the same jersey, I don't know you."
