The Charlotte Hornets announced Wednesday the signing of Elliot Williams, the No. 22 overall pick in the 2010 draft.

Terms weren't disclosed, but considering the team has 14 players under guaranteed contract for 2015-16, it's unlikely Williams received much guaranteed salary.

Instead, he seems set to battle undrafted free-agent signing and fellow shooting guard Aaron Harrison for the team's 15th roster spot. Harrison disappointed in two years at Kentucky but earned a small guarantee to come to camp with Charlotte after a strong showing in Orlando Summer League.

Williams, meanwhile, is looking to complete what's been a circuitous second comeback to the NBA. He flamed out quickly as far as first-rounders go, playing just one season (24 games) with the Portland Trail Blazers thanks in large part to knee and Achilles injuries. He worked his way back, catching on with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2013-14 season, but spent the bulk of 2014-15 in the D-League, save for cups of coffee with the Utah Jazz and New Orleans Pelicans.

His D-League stint was impressive, with Williams not only earning All-NBA D-League Second Team honors but also getting named D-League Finals MVP. He averaged 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.4 assists in 29 D-League games last season and has averaged 5.1 points in 104 NBA games.
