At long last, Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard has fulfilled an old promise that he made to his mother many years ago.

Lillard graduated from Weber State University with a professional sales degree from the College of Applied Science and Technology on Friday, a day after his team was eliminated in five games by the Memphis Grizzlies.

An eloquent Lillard took to the podium and gave thanks to friends and family who helped him along. Lillard also shared some words of wisdom with his fellow graduates.

Lillard played four years at Weber State before being selected sixth overall in the 2012 NBA draft. He was six credits shy of graduating when he declared for the NBA and attained those requisites last offseason.
