Grizzlies' Tony Allen apologizes for incident that led to team suspension

The Memphis Grizzlies were surely glad to have shooting guard/Grindfather Tony Allen back from a one-game team suspension for their game against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.

The game came down to a last-second Marc Gasol jumper that sealed things for the Grizzlies, but it's unlikely they'd have been in that position without Allen, who split time with Courtney Lee in guarding James Harden.

The pair helped hold Harden to 18 points, 2-of-7 from 3-point range and just two free-throw attempts (he averages 9.5). Allen, meanwhile, chipped in 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting to go along with eight rebounds – including a team-high four on the offensive glass – and two steals.

A game earlier, the Grizzlies fell to the middling Utah Jazz as Allen watched. He'd been suspended by the team, after a confrontation with teammate Nick Calathes during a drill reportedly led to Allen lashing out at coaches and refusing to continue practice.

Allen took responsibility for the incident and vowed not to let it affect him or the team moving forward.

"It’s behind me," he said after the win over the Rockets. "You live and you learn. I've got to conduct myself better. Most importantly, I just want to apologize to the fans and the organization. I've already apologized to my coaching staff and my teammates. I'm moving forward and winning heals all. We got the win."
